New Kodak Advantix Easyshare APS Camera Combines Benefits Of Film With Most Popular Features Of Digital

Kodak is continuing to invest and innovate in the Advanced Photo System with the introduction of the Kodak Advantix EasyShare H500, the next generation hybrid camera that combines the convenience of film with the benefits and flexibility of digital technology. This latest introduction to the Kodak Advanced Photo System (APS) family follows in the footsteps of the innovative Kodak Advantix Preview camera launched in 2000.

E-mail and immediate picture verification are the two most popular consumer benefits of digital cameras. The new Kodak Advantix EasyShare utilises the latest advances in both digital and film technology to bring these two benefits together on a film camera. Users can experience the best features of both formats, such as making traditional prints and maintaining a film negative for record keeping, while also e-mailing and sharing those same images as a digital picture. The new camera delivers several advantages:

  • Ability to e-mail screen resolution pictures quickly and easily with one touch of a button utilizing the EasyShare system, Kodak Picture Software and docking station
  • Selection of print quantity for each picture taken at any time when the film is in the camera, so that the photo processor allows the user to print and select the quantity of pictures desired
  • Full roll review on a colour LCD screen to immediately view and confirm the pictures
  • Storage in the camera's memory of up to 75 pictures, which can be easily viewed, downloaded and e-mailed
  • Close action shots with optical zoom lens (2.0x)

Like other Kodak APS cameras, the Kodak Advantix EasyShare H500 camera simplifies picture taking and ensures better photos by using magnetic technology. This technology enables the camera and film to communicate the technical details of each shot, allowing for options such as different picture formats on the same roll of film. The APS technology removes the guesswork and lets users concentrate on the fun part of taking pictures or on the subject or composition of the picture.

"This camera is the perfect innovation and solution for those who want the high quality convenience that film provides, but want the expanded features and functionality of a digital camera," said Gary Guthrie, European General Manager Marketing, Consumer Imaging Division. "By combining the digital function with film printing methods in the Kodak Advantix EasyShare, we're providing consumers with what they want: high quality photographs and negatives, and the assurance that they got the shot they wanted with the flexibility to download, e-mail, and digitally share all of their pictures."

Availability and RRP in the UK of the Kodak Advantix EasyShare H500 camera will be announced at a later date.

Kodak, Advantix and EasyShare are trade marks
