DFX is an affordable, fully-featured digital minilab that uses commercial thermal inkjet technology to produce high quality, long-lasting prints and allows retailers to capitalise on current consumer demand for quick and convenient digital services with a scalable system that can grow in line with expanding demand. In addition to standard order fulfilment, DFX efficiently produces mixed and digital orders for one-hour fulfilment of high-value products such as custom print packages, special sizes up to 12" by 18" posters, calendars, greeting cards, and CD-ROMs.
The DFX incorporates Kodak DLS software for picture correction, image editing and enhancement, digital workflow optimisation, and flexible sizing. State-of-the-art commercial inkjet technology developed with HP and paper/laminate technology from Kodak enables a dry, easy-to-use system with a low overall operating cost.
The DFX system has a flexible, open architecture that works with multiple inputs including digital media Internet file transfers, scanners, and more. DFX can be networked with retailer systems, online services and kiosks. The DFX system is compatible with the recently announced Kodak Image Access Standard (KLAS). In addition, DFX can be custom configured to optimise retail space with components placed in different areas, rooms or floors.
The basic system includes the system data manager (PC, LAN connection, modem, monitor, CD writer), media input terminal for most popular digital media, a print/finish station, order label printer, and Kodak DLS System Management Software. Retailers have the option to add features such as film and print scanners, enhanced software and additional printers for added productivity.
The DFX system will be available in the UK by the end of 2002. Price will be announced at a later date.
