- Kodak has expanded its relationship with a variety of mini-lab equipment manufacturers like Noritsu, Phogenix and PhotoMe International to deploy DLS across the widest range of equipment platforms to date. The following minilab equipment will run on Kodak DLS: System 88 DLS & 89 DLS; Noritsu 3011 DLS, 2921 DLS and 2721 DLS and Phogenix DFX. Additionally the Kodak DLS 100 Workstation will also run on Kodak DLS.
- Expanded adoption of the Kodak Image Access Standard (KIAS) advances connectivity among all Kodak DLS-powered photo equipment and enables the development of new and unique applications for minilabs and kiosks. Kodak is associated with a number of third-party developers, including Fotowire, to create specific software programmes for online, in-store and template solutions.
- Kodak DLS Software version 3.0 offers enhanced functionality, which will deliver a number of automatic picture quality enhancements, creating easier workflows and more profit potential for the retailer:
These include:
Automatic Red-Eye Detection and Reduction, Automatic Dust, Dirt and Scratch Removal and Automatic Tone Scale Correction.
New features to Kodak DLS Software Version 3.0 also provide greater flexibility and increased lab productivity:
"Scan Once" Workflow Management enables retailers to scan an image once from any source and store the image for output to as many products as the retailer wishes.
"Control Your Productivity" functionality allows the lab operator the ability to prioritise once in the queue without disrupting the productivity of the lab or rescanning orders.
- Introduction of the Kodak DLS 100 Workstation, which will provide retailers with a cost effective on-site method for producing CDs and uploading and printing from digital still cameras when networked to Kodak printers.
"Tailored to meet the specific needs of retailers looking to grow profit margins and expand customer valued services, new Kodak DLS-enabled minilabs empower retailers to expand and create products and services that make sense for their business," said Rainer Scheithauer, European Category Marketing Director for Output, Consumer Imaging, Kodak.
"We take very seriously how well our technologies serve the interest of the retailer and the consumer. This announcement not only underscores Kodak's continued commitment to innovation, but also our vision of enabling digitisation in the retail environment."
