New Kodak Mini Order Station Offers Low Cost Entry Into Digital Imaging Market

Kodak is extending its rapidly growing portfolio of digital print kiosks with the introduction of the new Kodak Mini Order Station, which offers retailers a minimal investment entry into the digital imaging market. With the Mini Order Station retailers can offer consumers the facility of ordering prints from digital camera cards as easily as ordering prints from film. The unit handles most of the commonly used memory card formats, including CompactFlash, Smart Media, PCMCIA, Memory Stick and MMC via a simple monitor and interface.

The new Mini Order Station is both compact and easy to install without the need for an ISDN or ADSL telephone line - just plug in at a convenient wall socket and start taking orders! Ordering prints is equally as simple. Once consumers have selected the images to be printed, they insert a Kodak Transfer CD and complete the processing order on screen. The whole transaction takes only a few minutes. The unit then writes the order to CD, which the retailer then forwards to their usual laboratory for fulfilment.

"This latest addition to our range of front-of-store digital retail equipment is a highly cost-effective way for retailers to extend their range of photographic services," said Mandy Howe, Digital Equipment Brand Manager, Kodak's Consumer Imaging Division. "This latest do-it-yourself solution gives consumers even greater freedom to do more with their pictures and retailers to increase the profit potential presented by all forms of digital imaging."

Availability of the Kodak Mini Order Station is scheduled in the UK from June 2002 at an anticipated RRP of less than £1,000.
