Kodak's Summer TV Investment Reaches All-Time High

With an anticipated spend of nearly £7 million during summer 2002, Kodak's TV advertising has reached record levels. Kodak's media spend has risen dramatically over the past few years, and today no other manufacturer comes close to matching Kodak's share of voice in the photo market.

Three of Kodak's major brands will benefit from the massive spend this summer - Kodak Ultra single-use cameras, Kodak Advantix cameras and Kodak Pictures film processing.

Activity around the launch of the new Kodak Ultra Compact single use cameras will be reinforced during the summer with an extended campaign between 13th May and 28th July using the strapline, 'Takes Great Pictures Anywhere'. This is the first investment in dedicated ads for Kodak single-use cameras for several years and as a result retailers can expect significant demand throughout the summer months.

The Kodak Pictures TV campaign is focussed around the key D&P periods of the year. Previous bursts at New Year and Easter have already proved highly successful in fuelling consumer interest for the service with retailers enjoying higher footfall and D&P sales. The next burst is scheduled for the Jubilee weekend (2nd - 4th June) with a new version of the ad extended to 30 seconds and featuring Kodak Picture CD.

The summer campaign for Kodak Advantix cameras is set to consolidate Kodak's position as the consumer's No.1 choice for compact cameras. The power of Kodak advertising to drive Advantix sales is well documented and with new models launched in April and an exciting new range of gift packs later in the year, Kodak aims to exceed consumer expectations even further. The campaign will air from 10th June to 21st July featuring the T700 camera to build awareness for the key summer period.

"Our increased advertising spend this year is testament of our commitment to drive the photographic category forward and deliver what the consumer wants," said Clare Taylor, Head of Communications, Kodak's Consumer Imaging Division.
"Retailers can maximise on the opportunity created with the right levels of merchandising and by initiating secondary displays of the full range of Kodak products and promotions throughout their stores."
