New Kodak DR Products Showcased

Kodak recently announced two new additions to its successful digital radiography (DR) portfolio. Both systems feature a new easy-to-use operator console and an option for Kodak's EVP software.

Showcased at UKRC is the new Kodak DirectView 5100, a versatile system for chest radiographs. Both systems incorporate a new fully integrated operator console, designed by Kodak, which features a touch screen for ease of use and an Exam Tutor for display of exam views and tracking their completion. The console provides local storage for 800 images. Selected images, such as those cases used for teaching materials, can be preserved and exempted from the system's automatic purging cycle.

The new Kodak DirectView 7100 is a table-based system for general radiography exams. The tilt table features easy-to-use controls and is capable of either grid or gridless imaging. Its streamlined design supports a wide range of exams with easy positioning of the table and overhead tube for table, upright, chest, and extremity studies. This system augments the Kodak DirectView 9000 system for general radiography, which includes a multiplanar motion U-arm design and offers the ultimate in flexibility for a full range of chest, extremity, abdominal and trauma exams.

Each Kodak DR system features a single operator console, providing the radiographer with complete and efficient control of the entire system. Other DR systems require separate consoles for controlling the generator and the detector array.

Consistent, Efficient User Interface

The new user interface for the Kodak DR platform is consistent with Kodak's CR platform, which offers significant enhancements in efficiency and ease of use because it requires fewer steps to input data and process an image.

Kodak DirectView EVP software enhances the consistency of images produced by the DR systems and can increase productivity through reductions in viewing time and image manipulation. As proven with Kodak's CR products, the optional EVP software offers images with increased latitude while preserving contrast detail.

Kodak DR systems, which utilise direct capture amorphous selenium detector technology, are gaining a reputation for exceptional productivity and image quality. Images can be reviewed within 10 seconds of exposure for quality assurance and the image cycle time is only 35 seconds.

Kodak and DirectView are trade marks.
