"Photography is an extremely useful tool for making information accessible, and can enable people to easily communicate their needs and wishes," said Nikki Wimborne, CREATE Project Co-ordinator, Harrow Mencap. "The cameras will go to our residential homes and supported living schemes so that people with learning disabilities and staff can use them on a daily basis to communicate and make information easier for people to understand."
Harrow Mencap is a local voluntary organisation which exists to support children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and who live or use services in Harrow. Harrow Mencap campaigns for people's rights and runs a number of services in Harrow including residential and supported homes, evening and weekend clubs, a day service, workshops and activities for children and young people, an Asian outreach service and a mobile loan service.
"Kodak is delighted to make this donation to Harrow Mencap and it is marvellous to see photography used in such a creative and useful way," said Malcolm Rayner, Manager of Kodak's Wealdstone-based factory. "As a Company we are keen to support our local communities where we can and welcome this opportunity to help such a worthwhile cause."
