Kodak Thanks An Old Friend

Kodak had occasion to thank an old friend recently as he retired from the NHS after 44 years of service. Watched by his colleagues, Jane Grimsley, Kodak’s OEM and Private Healthcare Business Manager, presented Senior Assistant Technical Officer Anthony Bagnell with a camera as a parting gift.

Anthony and Kodak have enjoyed a long association since he started his career at Stratford and Avon Hospital then moving to South Warwick Hospital, now Warwick Hospitals NHS Trust. Anthony operated Kodak processing equipment for virtually all his working life and saw huge technological change during that time, from manual processors and roller dryers through to the introduction of multiloaders, automixers and dry lasers.

There have been many memorable moments during such a long career including the story Anthony tells about when he attended a course in Darkroom Principles at Kodak’s Head Office, then in Kingsway, London WC1. It was a period when Kodak’s medical department were giving all staff an X-ray and Anthony was called upon to help with the processing!

“Anthony is a marvellous character and has made friendships with a number of Kodak Account Managers and Service Engineers over the years,” said Jane Grimsley. “We wish him a long and happy retirement and many opportunities to take photos with his new camera.”
