Kodak Expands Its CR Portfolio With Faster Single-Cassette System

Eastman Kodak Company has announced and demonstrated its new Kodak DirectView CR 850 system, a new top-of-the-line, single-cassette system that offers high throughput of up to 100 cassettes an hour.

In addition to offering exceptional image quality and ease of use, the speed of the CR 850 system can improve productivity and patient throughput in a variety of environments.

“Our new CR 850 system adds higher throughput to an award-winning platform already known for its reliability and image quality. These advantages make it attractive to facilities that want to upgrade existing CR equipment to handle growing volumes, as well as health care providers that are installing CR for the first time,” said Robin Hodownes, Kodak’s worldwide marketing manager for computed radiography.

The all-in-one design of the CR 850 system offers a footprint of just 25 x 29 inches (63 x 73 cm), which is ideal for A&E, ICU and other areas with limited floor space. The CR 850 features a new 15-inch flat panel screen that provides greater brightness and contrast for enhanced image display. A bar code reader is provided for patient/cassette identification.

Like Kodak’s popular CR 800 and CR 900 systems, the new CR 850 system will support Kodak DirectView remote operations panels (ROPs), which allow patient/cassette identification, image review and image distribution steps to be performed in the exam room.

The new platform will also support optional Kodak DirectView EVP software, which produces images with increased latitude while preserving contrast detail. This software enhances the consistency of images and can increase productivity through reductions in viewing time, image manipulation and retakes.

Availability and price of the Kodak DirectView CR 850 system in the UK will be announced at a later date.
