New Kodak DryView 8900 Laser Imaging System Sets Higher Standards For Image Quality & Productivity

Eastman Kodak Company has announced its new Kodak DryView 8900 laser imaging system, which offers exceptional throughput and productivity. The Kodak DryView family is the most popular dry laser imager product line in the industry.

“The DryView 8900 system doubles the image resolution offered by most existing dry laser systems for general radiography and offers much greater speed. This new platform illustrates Kodak’s continued technological leadership in the dry laser imaging market,” said Gregory Cefalo, Kodak’s worldwide marketing manager for laser imaging systems.

The new 8900 laser imager produces more than 180 films per hour at 650 dpi (dots per inch) laser resolution. This exceptional resolution applies to all film sizes, including 14 x 17 inch (35 x 43 cm) and 11 x 14 inches. This is a significant advantage over other imagers that print at high resolution only on smaller film sizes, and at slower speeds.

The imager contains three film drawers and supports five film sizes:14 x 17 (35 x 43 cm), 14 x 14 (35 x 35 cm), 11 x 14, 10 x 12, and 8 x 10 inches. The imager’s ability to place any film size in any drawer makes it an excellent choice for centralized printing in busy multi-modality areas. It is also ideal for producing output from modalities that generate mixed film sizes, such as computed radiography (CR).

Small Footprint, Top-Mounted Film Sorter
An innovative top-mounted, multi-bin film sorter contributes to the small footprint of the 8900 and allows placement in a convenient location. The borderless printing and rapid speed can also enhance staff productivity in high-volume CR and DR (digital radiography) environments.

Additional efficiency-enhancing features include a touch screen, multilingual colour control panel and bagless DryView film cartridges that speed film loading.

Each image produced by the DryView product line undergoes Kodak’s Automatic Image Quality Control (AIQC) process, which verifies that the image has passed pre-set quality assurance parameters. “This propriety and proven process is one of Kodak’s unique competitive advantages,” said Cefalo.

As with other Kodak product offerings, the new DryView 8900 laser imaging system will leverage Kodak’s extensive worldwide service network to deliver responsive and efficient on-site service and support.

The DryView 8900 system is the fifth generation in a product line that pioneered the use of dry laser imaging technology. Kodak has produced more dry laser imagers than any other vendor and shipped its 20,000th DryView imager this year.

Availability in the UK of the DryView 8900 laser imaging system will be announced at a later date.
