Kodak’s New CR Long-Length Imaging System Reduces Repeats With Automatic Software
Eastman Kodak Company has announced its new Kodak DirectView CR long-length imaging system, which provides hospitals and diagnostic imaging centres with digital image capture of full leg and full spine images. Kodak’s fully automatic stitching software delivers images of up to 17 x 51 inches (43 x 129 cm) that can be viewed in softcopy or printed onto radiographic film.
“Our fully automatic software and our ability to print areas of interest in full size with a Kodak DryView laser imager are key differentiators,” said Robin Hodownes, Kodak’s worldwide marketing manager for computed radiography. “Our system also significantly reduces the most frequent causes of retakes for these exams, which are poor stitching, incorrect alignment or images that are not in the right order. This enhances productivity and reduces the need for manual intervention.”
The CR long-length imaging system features a wall-mounted vertical cassette holder with an innovative system in which each long-length cassette has a unique “key” that enables it to be inserted only when it is in the proper position. Images are captured using only the number of cassettes required: two, three or four cassettes.
The long-length system includes a long-length vertical cassette holder, long-length cassettes and specialized image stitching software. This imaging system works in combination with Kodak DirectView CR 800 series or CR 900 series systems. A 17 x 51-inch grid specifically designed for the vertical cassette holder is available as an option.
An optional Kodak DirectView software feature package for the CR 800/900 system equips users with Kodak DryView laser imagers to print a true-size segment from anywhere within a composite long-length image, and to print up to four true-size segments to form a composite long-length film image.
The Kodak CR platform features Kodak DirectView PTS software, which can minimize the need to reprocess images. Optional Kodak DirectView EVP software further enhances diagnostic image quality by increasing latitude while preserving the contrast of image detail.
Availability and price of the Kodak DirectView CR long-length imaging system will be announced at a later date.
(Note: Kodak, DryView and DirectView are trade marks of Eastman Kodak Company.)
