Kodak Announces New X-Sight Screens
Eastman Kodak Company has announced new Kodak
X-Sight screens and highlighted the continued success of its Kodak X-Sight and InSight film systems.
The new X-Sight screen produces images that are approximately 20 percent sharper than the images produced by the previous X-Sight film and screen system. The screen’s smaller phosphor particles facilitate MTF (modulation transfer function) improvements at high X-ray absorption and reduce image noise, while Kodak’s zero crossover film technology minimizes light scatter.
“Our research and development teams are dedicated to continuous improvement of our film-screen systems, and this sharper screen is the latest example of their achievements,” said Betsy Guffey, Kodak’s product line manager for film systems.
Kodak holds dozens of patents for innovations in radiographic film technology, and the company’s dedication to technological improvements has lead to award-winning films, such as the Kodak X-Sight L/RA film.
Kodak X-Sight L/RA film and G/RA film were the first general radiography film systems to combine wide latitude with high contrast, and to provide very high-resolution images in a high-speed film-screen system. To do this, the X-Sight film imaging system employs two breakthrough technologies from Kodak: visually adaptive contrast and gradient crossover control. These technologies enable this film system to deliver dramatic advances in conventional film performance.
