Laser Imaging Upgrade For Royal Marsden
Kodak has recently helped The Royal Marsden NHS Trust to upgrade its laser imaging facilities. New Kodak DryView laser imagers have been installed in a number of departments to provide full hard copy printing back-up from a variety of modalities as part of a fully networked DICOM system. A DryView 8700 will now handle the busy CT and MR exams plus two DryView 8100s will handle screening and ultrasound and radiotherapy back-up.
In addition, the mammography department has installed the latest Kodak DryView 8610 laser imager for mammography. Specially designed for full-field digital mammography systems, the DryView 8610 will serve an IGE digital mammography system as part of a state-of-the-art digital mammography room within the Breast Assessment Unit. This unit undertakes approximately 7,000 examinations each year.
The full-field images captured by the IGE system are automatically printed via the 8610 onto Kodak DryView DVM Film, which is optimised for digital mammography. In addition to 655-dpi resolution, the film has high maximum density so subtle image shading remains crystal clear.
Commenting, Radiology Manager Shelagh Smith, said, “Kodak has worked very closely with Royal Marsden to ensure that our state-of-the-art imaging department has appropriate and reliable hard copy imaging support.”
The Kodak DryView family is the industry’s most comprehensive line of dry laser imagers and more than 20,000 systems have been placed worldwide.
Kodak and DryView are trade marks
