Kodak Set To Discontinue Colour Reversal Paper

Kodak Professional has announced it will stop selling colour reversal paper by next autumn.

The company says that sales of its Kodak EKTACHROME RADIANCE 111 papers and materials, used to produce high quality prints, enlargements, copies and backlit displays directly from positive originals, has declined year on year, in line with the growth of digital imaging.

Said Clare Bruce, Kodak Professional’s UK marketing manager: “Kodak has taken a decision to discontinue sales of colour reversal paper. The dramatic growth of digital imaging and the steady migration from colour reversal to colour negative by commercial photographers means this paper family and associated R3 chemicals have simply become uneconomical to produce.

Direct printing from transparency is rapidly being replaced by scanning and printing by other devices.”

R3 chemicals will be available until the end of 2004.
