Kodak’s New Long-Lasting Photographic Paper Comes To Market

‘Photographers can now offer customers images that won’t fade for over 100 years when printed on Kodak Professional Endura paper. And labs can now use just one paper for both optical and digital printers’ – KPro’s Mike Dolling

Endura, the new Process RA-4 Kodak Professional Paper family developed to last up to 200 years without noticeable image fading, is now available to UK customers on a stock turnover basis.

The landmark product, first announced at Photokina, creates a new industry standard for image stability and Kodak trials suggest it is set to be a hit across the board with photographers, their customers and with labs who will benefit from new workflow efficiencies.

Said KPro’s Mike Dolling; “We are very excited about the new Endura range of papers and display materials.

Our customers can now buy high quality paper that will show no noticeable image fading in typical home display situations for over 100 years – and 200 years in the most common dark storage conditions. And equally importantly Kodak Professional Portra , Supra and Ultra Endura papers will give photographers a very strong selling advantage with customers – particularly wedding or portrait fine art clients who want to keep their pictures in pristine condition for generations”

He added: “Our scientists have used new emulsion technology to create a family of papers that can be used by optical printers but are also fully compatible with all digital printers currently on the market. Radical dual layer coupler blending technology produces excellent skin tone reproduction, colour accuracy and improved colour saturation.

And labs can benefit from improved inventory control – now they only need stock one paper for both their digital and optical printing requirements.”

Kodak Professional Portra Endura paper replaces Kodak Professional Portra 111 Colour Negative Paper and Kodak Professional Supra Endura Paper replaces Kodak Professional Supra 111 Colour Negative Paper . Ultra 111 Paper is replaced by Kodak Professional Ultra Endura paper.

The new Portra Endura paper is a low contrast paper delivering natural flesh tones and moderate colour saturation. Supra Endura is a moderate contrast paper producing accurate flesh tones and more saturated colours for larger than life results. Kodak Professional Ultra Endura paper is a high contrast photographic paper delivering blacker blacks and whiter whites. Enhanced colour saturation in this paper delivers bold colours.

New eye-catching Endura Metallic paper combines the image stability, colour gamut and workflow optimization benefits of Portra, Supra and Ultra papers, with Kodak Professional’s renowned metallic look.

Endura Display Materials
New Kodak Professional Endura display materials represent the next generation of media for large-format, commercial, trade show and backlit applications, and include the features and benefits of the Endura family with regard to image quality, process robustness and image stability. Endura Transparency Digital and Optical Display Material, and Endura Clear Digital and Optical Display Materials are built upon a technology platform that parallels the Endura papers.

Kodak Professional’s Clare Bruce said “Each paper in the Endura family supports an increased colour gamut that provides greater detail from highlights to shadows and softer, smoother flesh tone reproduction. The increased colour gamut also means photographers and their clients have a wider range of colours and hues represented in their images. These new papers yield consistent image quality, whether the image was captured on film or digitally.

She added: “Endura underlines our promise to develop products that simplify imaging. This new family of long-lasting photographic papers and display materials is based on a ‘next generation’ imaging technology platform that sets new standards for image stability and robust processing.”
