The System 89DLS minilab platform has been awarded the Digital Imaging Marketing Association award for best Photo Printer 8” wide or less. Kodak’s supplier KIS-Photo-Me Group won the award and the announcement was made at the recent Photo Marketing Association 2003 Convention and Trade Show conference in Las Vegas.
37 companies entered 138 different printers for the Digital Printer Shoot-Out awards. Each entry was based on the quality of output from files created by Photomation Commercial Imaging & Graphics, Anaheim, CA, USA. Participants were asked to provide information relating to the equipment used (printer, RIP); the consumables used (output media, ink/toner/dye) and the production timing. Attendees at PMA then voted upon the entries based on overall quality of the digital print and the accuracy of the color as compared to the “target” print.
The System 89 DLS minilab is a new digital minilab from Kodak, which delivers the full range of digital print capability and Picture CD output, with printing speeds up to 1,000 prints per hour.
“ We are delighted that the Microlens Sharpened Beam print head technology has won this award,” said John Ward, Director of Output Marketing for Kodak. “Not only does it show the quality of our printer but the fact it was voted Best Photo Printer by attendees at PMA illustrates that the rest of the industry thinks so too.”
