Profit Opportunities With Kodak Products

The total retail value of the photographic market in 2002 was around £1,656 million, which represents growth of 7% compared with 2001. Retailers can maximise the potential of the category with impulse sales with film and single-use cameras the ideal products to stock, taking little space for high return.

At Pro Retail, brand leader Kodak is highlighting the new range of Kodak High Definition products introduced recently in response to growing consumer demand for exceptional picture quality. Throughout the summer Kodak is supporting these products with extensive Kodak promotions and from June a £4.5 million TV campaign will be running nationally. This will be backed up by major PR and trade press activity to ensure that the message about the excellence of the new film gets across to consumers in all areas.

Kodak High Definition Film offers unbeatable sharpness and superb clarity, while new, premium packaging with a technological feel will help consumers accurately identify the benefits. The 35mm film is a 200-speed film and the APS version is 100-speed. These colour-negative films feature the latest technological improvements to sharpen details and provide vibrant colour accuracy and exceptional grain structure.

Kodak High Definition Films will be priced at a premium: the suggested retail price for the 35mm 24 exposures single roll will be £4.99 and for the APS 25 exposures single roll £5.49.

The High Definition Single Use Camera features a brand new, two-element Ektanar lens for unbeatable sharpness. Recent consumer testing shows that single use cameras are often used closer to the subject than the minimum recommended distance; this new lens provides improved picture sharpness across picture depths, especially suitable for close ups (0.8 metres).

Available in both flash and non-flash models, the camera has been designed with a sleek, silver finish to look and feel like a quality, compact camera. This makes it ideal for consumers who do not want to compromise on picture quality or style when using a single use camera.

The Kodak High Definition Single Use Camera will be available in both flash and daylight versions at a recommended retail price of £8.99 for the flash camera, and £5.99 for the daylight camera.
