Enables Businesses To Create Fully Searchable And Editable PDFs Of Scanned Documents
Eastman Kodak Company and I.R.I.S. Group, a leader in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology for document management applications, announced the bundling of a limited version of I.R.I.S.’s PDF-conversion software with Kodak Capture Software, enabling businesses to scan company documents at high speeds and convert the digital images to searchable PDF files with images and text.
IRISPdf is a software solution that generates fully searchable PDFs through the company’s high-end OCR engine, containing both the document image (in colour, grayscale, or black and white) and the text. IRISPdf software supports 104 languages and can convert as many as 60 images per minute to fully searchable PDF files. With IRISPdf software, the scanned text becomes editable and can be copied and pasted from PDF files to Windows applications such as Word, WordPerfect, and StarOffice.
“ Kodak Capture Software was created to help enterprises increase the throughput and productivity of their document scanning processes, and the bundling of IRISPdf software with our software provides users with an easy-to-use option for sharing, managing and editing scanned documents,” said Robert Bijster, marketing manager of Kodak´s Commercial Imaging Components business in Europe, Africa and Middle East. “I.R.I.S. is a leader in OCR technology, and the combination of our expertise in image science and scanning products with I.R.I.S. Group’s advances in OCR technology allows us to offer a key infoimaging application.”
Kodak Capture Software has offered the option to output image-only PDFs for the past few years. The bundling of IRISPdf software with Kodak Capture Software enhances this feature by offering an option to output searchable PDFs with images and text. This bundled feature will be available with Kodak Capture Software Version 6.0 in the second quarter of this year through the following options:
- IRISPdf software will be bundled with each new license of Kodak Capture Software, Lite for the Kodak i50/i60 Scanners and the i250/i260 Scanners. This bundling will allow users to convert a maximum of 10 pages per batch to searchable PDFs.
- IRISPdf software will be bundled with each new license of Kodak Capture Software for the Kodak i50/i60 Scanners at no extra charge and will allow users to convert a maximum of 10,000 pages to searchable PDFs.
- IRISPdf software will be bundled with each new license of Kodak Capture Software for the Kodak i250/i260 Scanners at no extra charge and will allow users to convert a maximum of 50,000 pages to PDFs.
- An upgrade to an unlimited version of IRISPdf software can be purchased from I.R.I.S. Group or resellers of IRISPdf software.
“ We are very pleased with the co-marketing of IRISPdf software with Kodak,” said Pierre De Muelenaere, president and CEO, I.R.I.S. Group. “Over the past years, I.R.I.S. has developed a very strong technology for production OCR and conversion to PDF. Our technology is offering an unprecedented level of speed and accuracy and constitutes the most robust solution for professional systems. The seamless integration between IRISPdf software and Kodak Capture Software will maximize the benefits of the Kodak customers.”
