September 2003 – Kodak has teamed up with Disney for its new nationwide winter film promotion, which is timed to coincide with the first ever release of The Lion King on Disney DVD.
Ten fantastic 1st prizes of family holidays of a lifetime to the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida are on offer and include return flights to Orlando from Gatwick or Manchester for two adults and two children; return transfers to a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, 7 nights accommodation and tickets to Disney theme parks including Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom.
In addition, four 2nd prizes of Philips Home Cinema Systems and 50 3rd prizes of Lion King special edition DVDs can be won by consumers missing out on the top prizes. 100 runners-up will receive a smart Lion King rucksack.
Entry couldn’t be simpler. Consumers just pick up an entry leaflet from the special merchandisers when they purchase Kodak films or single-use cameras. They complete the form, which includes questions plus a tie-breaker, and send it to the promotion address together with the original till receipt as proof of purchase. Closing date for receipt of entries is 31st January 2004.
Winter sales are vital to the photographic category with almost 25% of film volume for the total year achieved during these months. This latest Kodak promotion is designed to drive sales during this key selling period supported by a range of pre-packed floor and counter merchandisers to create impact in-store. In addition, a range of impactful POS is available including wobbler, hanging mobile, hanging banner and A4 showcard.
“ The Lion King is Disney’s big launch of 2003 and is guaranteed to generate huge consumer interest in the run-up to Christmas,” said Mark Robinson, Project Implementation Manager for Film, Kodak’s Consumer Imaging Division. “The profile of Disney and Kodak customers is very similar and retailers should look to capitalise on Kodak’s investment with prominent display of the promotion in key impulse areas and by initiating secondary sitings.”
Merchandisers and POS will be available from the beginning of October and retailers should talk to their Kodak representatives or Kodak supplier for further details.
