Bill Brent's Passion

Bill Brent makes his living as a freelance writer in the high-tech industry of Portland, Oregon. For relaxation and enjoyment, however, he grabs his camera bag and heads outdoors. Adventure photography is his passion. Kayaking, waterfalls, waves crashing the shore, and a campfire at sunset, Bill captures it all with his Nikon N90S 35 mm camera and the following lenses - - - a 20 mm, f2.8 wide angle lens, a 35-70 mm f2.8 zoom lens, and an 80-200 f2.8 telephoto lens.

We invite you to take a look at these pictures of Bill's shoot during a 10-day kayaking trip in Canada's Pukaskwa National Park. Learn how he achieved these spectacular results.

Steve Klopp sits by the fire at sunset.

As the sun dropped to the horizon, a pink glow began to spread across the cloudbank above us. I asked Steve to hold very still for 8 seconds while I took this tripod-mounted shot with my 20 mm lens and KODAK E100VS film. I wanted to achieve three things: I wanted as much of the sky as possible, I wanted the light from the campfire to serve as a fill flash on Steve's face and hands, and I wanted the long exposure to give the rippled surface of the water a soft cloud-like appearance.
